About Undefeated: Gridiron Legends

Undefeated: Gridiron Legends is a free browser game where you draft the greatest football players of all time onto a single roster, simulate a 20-game season, and see if you can go undefeated.

Every mode starts the same way: build a full roster from a pool of all-time-great players across eras, positions, and teams, then let the season play out. A new Daily Challenge roster is available every day, or play Classic, Offense Only, or Two-Minute Drill any time.

Why we built it

We wanted a quick, replayable way to argue the "greatest of all time" debate that football fans have every offseason — instead of just talking about it, draft your answer and let a simulated season decide if your roster actually holds up.

The reason it's a draft and not a builder is deliberate: picking any twelve legends you like and declaring victory doesn't settle anything. Spinning for a team and an era each round means you don't always get the exact player you'd have picked in a vacuum — you get the best available answer to a constrained question, which is a lot closer to how the actual GOAT debate works. And a simulated season instead of an instant verdict matters for the same reason: a perfect record should be something your roster earns over 20 games, not something a strong enough draft guarantees on paper.

How the roster pool was built

Every player and rating in the game comes from real NFL statistical history, not hand-picked opinions. Behind the scenes, we built a data pipeline that pulls actual play-by-play and season stats for NFL players, scores each player-season with a formula specific to their position, then ranks that score against every other player at the same position to produce an overall rating. The pool you draft from spans five distinct eras of the league, from 2000 through 2025, so a pick from the early 2000s and a pick from the 2020s are being judged on the same real-production basis, not on how memorable they are. The full mechanics of drafting and rating are covered on the How to Play page.

Game modes

Every mode starts from the same 12-round draft engine and the same 20-game season simulation — what changes is how you get there. Classic is the no-clock, full-stats baseline. Daily Challenge runs the identical draft and season through a seed tied to the calendar date, so everyone playing that day is working from the same spins and the same outcome for a given roster. Offense Only trims the draft to nine offense-exclusive rounds for a faster build. Two-Minute Drill turns each spin into a timing challenge, rewarding a well-timed lock with an extra reroll or a ratings boost on that pick. See How to Play for the full breakdown of each mode, and the FAQ for quick answers to common questions.
